Equipment
Footwear
A sturdy pair of walking boots is really important for this. We're going to be walking for at least 4 hours a day over some pretty rough terrain so make sure if you invest in some new shoes, you've tested them beforehand. Walking socks are also useful, they can wick away the moisture, but a nice pair of thick socks should be fine.
Clothing
Weather conditions can be quite changeable where we're going to be walking so it's a good idea to take both cool and warm weather clothing. This means t-shirts or base layers, a fleece or sweater and a waterproof jacket. Also make sure you have some lightweight trousers or shorts so if they do get a bit wet they don't stay that way for long. If the weather forecast is looking particularly bad it might be worth taking some waterproof trousers.
Food and Drink
For the mornings, it's probably worth bringing some cereal or breakfast bars, or for the traditionalists, pot noodles are highly recommended (can't beat a bit of chicken chow mein first thing).
Sandwiches are great for walking but can be a bit of hassle to make in the mornings so snack food is a great way to keep your energy levels up, especially chocolate bars, nuts and crisps. Make sure you've got a decent sized water bottle or camelbak to keep you hydrated.
As far as evening's go, it's likely that you'll be a bit shattered to start cooking every night so the camp sites we're staying in will all be close to pubs. Wasdale Head is particularly handy with the pub on the doorstep. If you want to save a bit of cash I'd suggest bringing some quick cook pasta that you can pop on a stove. Don't forget your beer and wine to numb the pain in the evenings!
Camping
Small two and three man tents that are easy to erect and dismantle are probably your best bet. We want to be walking as early as possible to allow us to reach the next peak in good time along with not having tents that will take up a huge amount of room in the vehicles.
I’d invest in a decent sleeping bag seeing as the weather conditions can be quite unpredictable and some sort of rollmat. If you really want to push the boat out you could get an inflatable mattress (there’ll be an electric pump to use for lazy people).
Miscellaneous
If anyone's got any sort of first aid kit please bring it with you in case there are any accidents. Walkie talkies are also incredibly useful for communications so make sure if you have one the batteries are working!
If you're considering doing any kind of cooking don't forget a stove and cooking utensils. A pocket knife can be great for a huge amount of things, especially opening bottles of wine.
